The towers consist of 17 sculptures. The Towers were constructed of structural steel and covered with mortar. Simon Rodia is the mind behind the towers. Simon was born in 1879 in Ribottoli, Italy, he purchased the the triangular-shaped lot in 1921. For 34 years her worked single-handedley built the towers without using a machine, saffolding, bolts, rivets,welds or drawing boards. With his own 2 hands he constructed the towers using simple tools, pipe filters, pilers and a window washwer's belt and buckle.
